In the fall of 2007, only a few months after releasing CTFOF, Flicker told us to start preparing songs for our sophomore record that would be released either late the following year or early the next year. Needless to say, we were pretty caught off guard by that little notion, considering that our record had just come out a few months prior to them saying that. Regardless, we set ourselves to task and started writing as much material as we could. At one point, we'd settled on a semi-concept record called "Worlds," that had a lot of sailor-pirate-nautical imagery. Little did we know, the whole idea would sink like a ship in April of 2008 when we were released from our contract very unexpectedly. It was a huge ego-shot for me...but we soon found our footing and started a long, hard journey towards picking ourselves back up. The next few songs were written during that time (also originally written during this time: Barely Breathe...it was the only song anyone at Provident liked.)
This would have been the intro to that record.

lyrics
There are faces in the sky,
staring down to Earth.
And the night, a thin disguise,
letting shine their worth.
And now's the time,
give up the life you left behind.
Turn loose the sail and set a course
we leave for worlds we've never seen.
She stole your heart!
You took the siren's song she sang to heart.
Left washed upon the shore of death, you rise;
Face the life you never lived.
And now's the time,
give up the life you left behind.
Set your sights beyond the stars
that you've been shone,
to worlds you've never known.
Turn loose the sail!
Each year the same story: My wife (handmade pop music) and I (black metal maniac) go on holiday. We need some "soft" but honest music for long car drives. It is a tough week in advance to dive deeply into musical scrap to find some pearls like THE CLASSIC CRIME! This album really rocks, sounding more British than American. The first seven songs plus the stormy "Cold Loud Dark" are catchy killers and this is an almost perfect result for an album. A fat pillar in this years's holiday soundtrack! H.L.
Oh well, Christmas is approaching... time to buy at least one Christmas album! I'm not a fan of Christmas, as it is celebrated today, nor do I like the typical cheesy Christmas music played everywhere these days. So it had to be something special. The "crash test" for this album was the version of "Silent Night", which nobody managed to get right so far. Well, with the exception of "Falling Up". Frankly, as a fan of Jessy Ribordy, I'm not surprised that much... Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
Cuts deep and stays with you. There is an earnest honesty in the lyrics that pulls you in. If, like me, you thought this album was merely "good" when you listened to it the first time, give it a few more plays. You might just fall in love with it. Francis Berglund
