This was one of the few B-sides from CTFOF. I love this song! After receiving the initial interest from Flicker during the early summer months of 2006, we locked ourselves in Seth's family's pool house and spent the rest of the year writing the songs that would eventually become Conquering the Fear of Flight. This was the last song written, and I think it expresses the impatience we were experiencing during the whole signing process. It's always a good idea for a band to never sign the first contract sent from a record label, but hammering out the details can take months...sometimes years! Luckily for us, we'd gotten everything straight around October and started recording in December. Man, those were fun days. We practiced 5 days a week, every afternoon. We would only break for food and to watch "Heroes" on Monday nights. Man...
Those were some of the best times.
It also reminds me of how Coon and I would sit in the back of Pizza Hut while making pizza sauce (oh yes...we were delivery drivers) way back when and talk about whether or not we would really "get signed" one day. I'm really glad that we did, because I think I told him that I "really thought" we would about a million times. We were just ready to be out on the open road and not driving around Booneville, MS hoping for tips! Coon was the heart of the band. Not many people really know this (only because not many people were really paying attention to our band at that point,) but Coon wasn't in the band for almost the whole of 2012. It was definitely not the same....I think we all missed him every single day. I'm really glad that things have smoothed over and we're all friends again, but let me tell you, those were dark days. He's been one of my best friends for almost 10 years, and the days when he wasn't right there with us just weren't complete. The only thing that was even close to being as disappointing as that whole mess was when the mayan calendar's supposed apocalypse didn't happen on Dec. 21. Coon and I used to look forward to that one a lot.
This song definitely came back around for me during the final days of the band, and the ultimate answer to the question this time around, to my surprise, was that it wasn't worth it to start again. It was time to walk away from Wavorly, and call it a day. It was the hardest pill to swallow ever. After we had our meeting over drinks at a little spot we started calling the "bad news bar" here in Nashville, I spent quite a bit of time reflecting on all the good times and bad times and found myself in a really bittersweet yet thankful place. The time I had in this band was one of the biggest blessings God has ever placed into my life.
I don't know if I'll look back on a better time.

lyrics
Wait for the light to shine at the end!
...so sick of waiting, stalling, never finding out.
What's next to come could turn it around!
Patience is fleeting, and I fear time is running out.
Is it wrong to go on? Should this end?
Show me a sign!
Oh, give me something to hold on to.
Show me a sign!
Oh Lord, 'cause it's all that I've been waiting for.
Don't wanna carry on without you,
without you.
What if the work is never enough?
Get to the meaning!
...listen close to every word.
Connecting hearts through song and verse,
the hopes and losses matching up with every word.
Is it wrong to go on? Should this end?
Is it worth our lives to try again?
Show me a sign!
Oh, give me something to hold on to.
Show me a sign!
Oh Lord, 'cause it's all that I've been waiting for.
Don't wanna carry on without you,
without you.
Show me it!
Give me something to hold on to.
Show me a sign!
Oh Lord, 'cause it's all that I've been waiting for.
Don't wanna carry on without you,
without you.

Each year the same story: My wife (handmade pop music) and I (black metal maniac) go on holiday. We need some "soft" but honest music for long car drives. It is a tough week in advance to dive deeply into musical scrap to find some pearls like THE CLASSIC CRIME! This album really rocks, sounding more British than American. The first seven songs plus the stormy "Cold Loud Dark" are catchy killers and this is an almost perfect result for an album. A fat pillar in this years's holiday soundtrack! H.L.

Oh well, Christmas is approaching... time to buy at least one Christmas album! I'm not a fan of Christmas, as it is celebrated today, nor do I like the typical cheesy Christmas music played everywhere these days. So it had to be something special. The "crash test" for this album was the version of "Silent Night", which nobody managed to get right so far. Well, with the exception of "Falling Up". Frankly, as a fan of Jessy Ribordy, I'm not surprised that much... Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)

Cuts deep and stays with you. There is an earnest honesty in the lyrics that pulls you in. If, like me, you thought this album was merely "good" when you listened to it the first time, give it a few more plays. You might just fall in love with it. Francis Berglund
