We wrote this song about the perils of relationships. They can be really difficult to manage; especially when insecurities that stem from past relationships play a major role in the story. The gun metaphor represents how shaky relationships can seem to be on a hair-trigger all the time. They can begin and end so quickly with no solid foundation based on trust.
This song also contains a little guest programming from Solomon Olds (Soul-Glow Activator) from Family Force 5.
"Hold On" reminds me a lot of ol' Sethry too. Seth has always been the backbone of the band. He handled our finances, handled the maintenance on Lucilles 1 and 2, and handled the sweet harmonies and even sweeter solos and lead parts in all of our songs. Seth came into the band after one semester of college, and despite only a couple of incidents (if you're ever around and Seth comes after you with either a piece of bamboo or an atlas, run) he really always fit right in. He's a smart guy and can always figure out the best way to get out of a jam, and that's what will take him far in life. His knack for thinking things through and getting them right the first time shows in everything he does, from playing guitar, to balancing a checkbook, to his now blossoming photography portfolio. Now hire him to photograph your wedding, event, or just anything!

lyrics
I'm sick of running, so sick of running.
Somehow I turned around and found that I was far away.
I wanna hold ya,
I need to hold ya.
I can't pretend to comprehend how things end up this way.
It's been a while, I'm in denial.
I'd hate to hear you say it's over.
I wanna turn back, but can we turn back?
I've got my doubts and I'm thinking that our fate is
always in my hands...
the gun is always in my hands.
So I've just gotta know:
Is it something real, or will it fall apart?
Will it come crashing down if I give you my heart?
So I need to know that you will hold on.
'Cause you know how it feels when you're finally home,
and you know how it hurts when you wake up alone.
So I need to know that you will hold on.
Never fading, cause we're waiting, and
I won't let go if you won't let go.
I wanna stay here, can we stay here?
I'm afraid that if we leave then we'll never know.
Maybe we should have.
Or if we would have,
we wouldn't have to say it's over.
But we can see it, so we believe it.
I've got my hopes even when I think
the gun is always in my hands.
But the gun is always in my hands,
always in my..
Is it something real? Will it come crashing down?
I need to know that you will hold on.
Is it something real, or will it fall apart?
Will it come crashing down if I give you my heart?
Oh won't you promise that you'll hold on?
The gun is always in my hands.

Each year the same story: My wife (handmade pop music) and I (black metal maniac) go on holiday. We need some "soft" but honest music for long car drives. It is a tough week in advance to dive deeply into musical scrap to find some pearls like THE CLASSIC CRIME! This album really rocks, sounding more British than American. The first seven songs plus the stormy "Cold Loud Dark" are catchy killers and this is an almost perfect result for an album. A fat pillar in this years's holiday soundtrack! H.L.
Oh well, Christmas is approaching... time to buy at least one Christmas album! I'm not a fan of Christmas, as it is celebrated today, nor do I like the typical cheesy Christmas music played everywhere these days. So it had to be something special. The "crash test" for this album was the version of "Silent Night", which nobody managed to get right so far. Well, with the exception of "Falling Up". Frankly, as a fan of Jessy Ribordy, I'm not surprised that much... Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
Cuts deep and stays with you. There is an earnest honesty in the lyrics that pulls you in. If, like me, you thought this album was merely "good" when you listened to it the first time, give it a few more plays. You might just fall in love with it. Francis Berglund
